Biocide Development Services | Charles River

environmental sciences

flasksOur Environmental Sciences group is experienced in conducting studies required to assess the environmental risk of biocidal products. The group offers a range of toxicity-based studies, including:

  • Avian
  • Fish
  • Aquatic and terrestrial plants
  • Terrestrial and aquatic invertebrates
    (including beneficial insects)
  • Soil microorganisms
  • Seedling emergence and growth

Chronic, reproductive and developmental studies as well as bioconcentration investigations are routinely undertaken in aquatic and terrestrial organisms.

Charles River has substantial experience in handling difficult and challenging materials, including volatile, unstable or poorly soluble.
We can design and conduct environmental fate studies to meet your program needs. Fully flexible facilities and equipment, together with soils and aquatic sediments sourced from sites worldwide, enable all global requirements to be accommodated. Study designs allow the determination of all aspects of fate and behavior in soil and water.

Studies include:

  • Ready and inherent biodegradation
  • Aerobic and anaerobic degradation in soil and aquatic sediment systems
  • Soil adsorption
  • Desorption/mobility
  • Hydrolytic stability
  • Photolytic stability (soil and aqueous)
  • Soil dissipation
