Charles River has over 25 years of experience performing rodent and livestock metabolism studies that meet international regulatory standards for compound support and development. We routinely work with rats, goats, cows and poultry, and we occasionally conduct metabolism studies in quail and pigs. Our experience of formulating doses is diverse, ranging from aquatic-based solutions to oil-based suspensions. Our facilities are large with capacity, for example, to house up to 200 lactating cattle. Dose route experience includes dermal, oral (by diet, capsule or gavage), intravenous and inhalation.
Our scientists offer a comprehensive and integrated service for the profiling and identification of metabolites in excreta, milk, eggs and tissues. Modern chromatographic and isolation technologies are supported by Micromass QToF and IT-ToF mass spectrometers and access to NMR for definitive metabolite identification. Our Synthetic Chemistry group can provide metabolite reference standards for future structural confirmation.
