This meeting will focus on the role of safety pharmacology in drug development. The safety pharmacology program at Charles River can help you further the development and safe use of your product by investigating its potential undesirable effects on physiological functions in relation to exposure in the clinical therapeutic dose and above. One of our scientists will present a poster on the sensitivity of implantable telemetry in the Latin square design. In addition, we are hosting a scientific breakfast entitled “The Use of New Methods or Technologies in Safety Pharmacology” on September 21. This intensive seminar is designed to provide an overview on the basics of LAL test technology with in-depth analysis on the types of test methodology available. In particular, this seminar will focus on problems sometimes encountered in endotoxin testing, including resolving interference issues. The speakers will be available to answer any of your endotoxin testing-related questions.

The Biotech symposium is designed to provide insights into nonclinical development of biologics, Specific topics that will be covered include: Safety Pharmacology of Therapeutic Proteins; Impact of Immunomodulatory Agents on Host Resistance; New Paradigms for Predicting Cancer Risks Posed by Immunosuppressive Drugs; PK/PD Modeling: Extrapolating from Animal Data into First-in-Human Dose; and DART Programs for Biotherapeutics: Study Designs, Challenges and Regulatory Influences. In addition to the symposium, we will offer a workshop on endemic diseases and micro-flora as they relate to toxicology on September 12th.
