Giving Kids an ‘Energy Boost’ for One Day
For her One Day, Jaime, a histology technician in Preclinical Services, joined the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) on Wheels program at the Ottawa Elementary School.
Since 1982, COSI on Wheels has strengthened scientific thinking skills in children by visiting schools and delivering a high-energy, school-wide assembly followed by a full day of hand-on science-related activities.
The day Jaime volunteered at the Ottawa Elementary School, the hands-on stations focused on renewable and nonrenewable energy sources as well as potential and kinetic energy. Jaime spent her day talking with kindergarten through 6th graders about how energy conducts through various materials, such as different metals and even potatoes. She’s grateful for the One Day program which allowed her to contribute in such a positive way.
