CHARTER Awards & Scholarships

Charles River Short Course Scholarships
Currently, there is a shortage of veterinarians working in our field. The scholarship program for the Short Course is one effort to increase the number of veterinarians entering the field of laboratory animal medicine. We sponsor scholarships for veterinary students and veterinarians who are not currently involved in laboratory animal medicine but are considering a career change.

Charles River Medallion
Administered through the Laboratory Animal Management Association, which advances the laboratory animal management profession through education, knowledge exchange and professional development. Members represent most of our major customers. The medallion is given in “recognition of distinguished contributions to the field of laboratory animal management by an administrator or manager who is a member of the National Laboratory Animal Management Association (LAMA) and is currently engaged in laboratory animal management.” Learn more »

Charles River Prize
For thirty-five years, Charles River has proudly sponsored the Charles River Prize in recognition of outstanding contributions to laboratory animal science and medicine in the US. Beginning in 2013, we expanded the reach of the Charles River Prize to include our international colleagues and transferred the presentation of the award to the AALAS Awards Ceremony. This international forum, at the premier laboratory animal science organization’s Annual Meeting, provides the perfect audience for this special recognition of exceptional achievement in Laboratory Animal Science and Medicine.
