Enhanced Qualitative Mass Spectrometry Capabilities for Fast and Effective Identification of Metabolites

Sep 10 2012

Charles River has provided Qualitative Mass Spectrometry (QMS) for over 20 years, and we have developed our QMS services by recruiting and training staff in this highly specialized area and continually investing in our equipment and facilities. We believe it is important to have a variety of instrument types and to select the correct mass spectrometry experiment for each particular identification challenge.

In keeping with this commitment to providing the best QMS services, Charles River has recently invested in a Waters SYNAPT® G2-S to complement our existing Qualitative Mass Spectrometers (Waters QToF, Shimadzu IT-ToF and AB SCIEX Triple Quad instruments) and to further develop our structural elucidation services.

In addition to accurate mass and high resolution, the Waters SYNAPT® G2-S also provides Ion Mobility Separation (IMS), which allows the separation of isomeric entities based on their cross-sectional area as well as charge. These enhanced features, along with software modeling of cross-sectional areas, will provide the capability to direct synthetic efforts in producing reference standards required for regulatory studies.

This technology has the potential to provide data that would not otherwise be available, as well as reduce the time and effort required to isolate and characterize metabolites.
