Expert Metabolic Profiling and Identification for Accelerated Timelines
Feb 02 2012
From investigating xenobiotic biotransformation to performing metabolite isolation for NMR and spectral interpretation, Charles River’s Edinburgh facility has provided metabolite profiling and identification services for 25 years.
Metabolite Profiling and Identification Services
As a natural endpoint to ADME studies, our team can investigate xenobiotic biotransformation in excreta, plasma and other biological matrices. We have two dedicated high-resolution mass spectrometers (Shimadzu LCMS-IT-TOF and a Waters Q-ToF micro) as well as 12 radio-HPLC systems (including UPLC). Each radio-HPLC system is equipped with online radio-detectors/fraction collectors and TopCount for low-level counting. For experiments using a radiolabeled molecule, we can advise on the position/type of radiolabeling as well as the specific activity required.
Accelerating Development Timelines
Our technology can also be applied to samples from early toxicology, in vitro and clinical samples which contain non-radiolabeled metabolites. This kind of “metabolite scouting” experiment demands a knowledge led approach and the appropriate application of mass spectrometry. We can apply approaches designed around accurate mass screening, metabolite prediction, multi-reaction monitoring and a range of other techniques designed to give qualitative and semi-quantitative information. Such information is vital in toxicology species selection and in the acceleration of development timelines.
Expert Staff
Our biotransformation chemists are experienced in the development of chromatographic methods and sample preparation. They also have expertise in metabolite isolation for NMR, spectral interpretation as well as the preparation of expert reports.
