Phenotype and Genotype Comparison for C57BL/6N Substrains

May 20 2013

The International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium (IMPC) was formed to spearhead the international program that coordinates the production and phenotyping of all the protein encoding genes in the mouse genome. While the IMPC’s chosen mouse strain is the C57BL/6N, researchers must understand that that there are several substrains of this mouse model. It is important to catalog phenotype and genotype similarities or differences between the substrains and ES cells used by the various IMPC centers.
