Physicochemical Testing Now Available in North America

Feb 04 2013

Charles River is pleased to announce the addition of physicochemical testing services to the portfolio at our Ohio facility. Until now, physicochemical testing was exclusively offered at our Edinburgh facility, primarily supporting our European client base. With this addition, North American clients now have local access to these services and can now place the acute toxicology and physicochemical testing package at one site.

This new testing initiative is housed in a purpose-built laboratory outfitted with equipment dedicated specifically to physicochemical testing. The current testing services offered at our Ohio site include:

  • Appearance (color, physical state and odor)

  • Density

  • pH

  • Corrosion

  • Ignitability

  • Chemical incompatibility (oxidation/reduction)

  • Flammability (solids)

  • Water solubility

  • Stability by HPLC/GC

  • Viscosity

In the future, these services will be expanded to include long-term storage stability and five-batch testing. Potential offerings include flash point testing and particle size evaluation, as well as other testing based on customer demand and US EPA and European REACH requirements. The physicochemical staff at our Ohio site will work closely with their Edinburgh colleagues to ensure that the same high level of quality and timeliness is offered at both sites, allowing for more of a global presence in physicochemical testing.
