Purchase and Transfer Agreement Brings Salmonella pullorum Plate Antigen Manufacturing to Charles River
Mar 29 2013
Charles River has reached an agreement with Lohmann Animal Health, Int. to purchase their Salmonella pullorum plate antigen USDA license and transfer the production of this plate antigen to our laboratories in Connecticut. This transfer completes the Charles River portfolio of plate antigens approved by the USDA’s National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) for the transport and export of poultry products. Charles River is the manufacturer and supplier of Mycoplasma gallisepticum, Mycoplasma synoviae and Mycoplasma meleagridis plate antigens, and has been the exclusive worldwide distributor of the Lohmann Animal Health Salmonella pullorum plate antigen for more than five years. We currently supply more than two million tests annually to more than 40 countries worldwide.
Lohmann has agreed to continue to manufacture the Salmonella pullorum plate antigen until the product license is transferred. This will allow Charles River to continue supplying the Salmonella pullorum plate antigen to our customers during the transition. The license transfer, which will include the starting materials and production methods, will allow for a more rapid approval by the USDA. The transfer of the Salmonella pullorum plate antigen will make Charles River the only USDA-licensed manufacturer of Salmonella pullorum and Mycoplasma plate antigens in the United States.
