TARGATT™ Mouse for Reliable Targeted Transgenic Model Creation
Mar 20 2013
Through our collaboration with Applied StemCell, Inc. (ASC), Charles River is now the exclusive distributor of the TARGATT™ mouse. The TARGATT mouse is a transgenic mouse (FVB/NCrl congenic background strain) engineered to produce animal models with investigator-designed exogenous DNA sequences knocked-in to a specific site. TARGATT mice can be used to create various genetic modifications, including targeted transgene, humanization or reporter gene insertion.
The TARGATT mouse is engineered to have three tandem attP sequences in the Hipp11 (H11) locus on mouse chromosome 11. This model is designed to be used in conjunction with the TARGATT Kit that contains the TARGATT Integrase (fC31) and other reagents to facilitate integration of exogenous DNA into the H11 locus.
Model creation using the TARGATT system is significantly faster and more efficient than traditional methods and eliminates the disadvantages of random insertion of transgenes into the genome. The TARGATT system allows for a single-copy intact integration into a defined site and provides a high level of stable expression for sequences in the H11 locus.
To order the TARGATT mouse, contact us at askcharlesriver@crl.com or at 1.800.LAB.RATS. To purchase the TARGATT kit, required for integration of exogenous DNA into the H11 locus, contact the Applied StemCell Ordering Department.
