Central Laboratory Services

Charles River Central Laboratory staff support every phase of preclinical and clinical development conducting all according to GLP/GCP standards.  The laboratories have established internal quality guidelines as well as participate in external quality control programs.  A CFR Part 11 compliant Laboratory Management Information System (LIMS) ensures control of all aspects of analytical and reporting procedures.

Preclinical Services

The Central Laboratory has extensive expertise in the use of clinical pathology techniques in laboratory, domestic, and farm animals.  This includes safety analysis and pharmacodynamic biomarkers to investigate the efficacy of novel compounds.  The laboratory provides support for study directors from advice on sampling procedure and selection of tests, to interpretation of laboratory findings.

  • Validated LIMS system for electronic logging and tracking of samples, scheduling laboratory activities, and flexible reporting procedures

  • Expert scientific advice and medical consultancy

Our services include safety screening of volunteers and patients prior to study entry, and monitoring safety and efficacy during the study using biomarkers. Extensive use of automated systems allow for rapid turnaround of data, enabling clinicians to make prompt judgment on the safety of treatments.
