New Webinar Available Now for Viewing: Pneumocystis carinii and Interstitial Pneumonia in Laboratory Rats

November 2, 2010 - At the 2010 AALAS National Meeting, Charles River Research Animal Diagnostic Services reported that Pneumocystis carinii is the causative agent for interstitial pneumonia in laboratory rats, previously known by the working name "rat respiratory virus."

In this webinar, we present our studies that identified P. carinii as the agent responsible for the prevalent interstitial pneumonia in laboratory rats. The presentation also includes data from multiple transmission studies that use serology and real-time PCR to provide a quantitative presentation of the infection timeline, as well as prevalence data and diagnostic concerns for the routine detection of P. carinii in laboratory rats.
