Charles River Webinar: ‘Protecting Your Investment: Managing the Risk of Microbial Contamination in Rodent Facilities’
June 5, 2009 – On Tuesday, June 30, 2009, Charles River will host a webinar titled "Protecting Your Investment: Managing the Risk of Microbial Contamination in Rodent Facilities," from 11 am to 12 pm EDT. Speakers for this webinar include the director of Pathology and Technical Services at Charles River and the director of business development and marketing for Charles River Consulting and Staffing Services. The webinar will also include a panel of experts to discuss managing the risk of microbial contamination in rodent facilities.
This webinar will highlight how microbial contamination of research animal facilities can be confounding, highly disruptive, and extremely costly. Such contaminations are common and thus pose a major risk to facility management. This webinar will discuss how to reduce risk from threats posed by incoming animals and material, as well as how to minimize the potential for human error. Specifically, discussion will touch on which diseases currently pose the greatest risk and which materials and processes are most vulnerable.
Emphasis will also be placed on disease surveillance in quarantine and on validation of disinfection at critical control points. The human component of biosecurity will also be addressed with a focus on best practices for recruitment, hiring, retention, and training.
