Charles River Webinar Available Now for Viewing: "Molecular Quarantine: an alternative or augmentation for improving rodent quarantine"

November 30, 2010 - Maintaining biosecurity within your research facility is of the utmost importance. While quarantine of incoming research animals prior to entry into your vivarium is vital to limiting the introduction of infectious agents, the process can be timely and sometimes inaccurate. More recently, molecular-based quarantine methods have become available, which can reduce a typical quarantine from 8 weeks to 2 weeks and can improve the detection of agents over conventional quarantine methods.

In this webinar, we review conventional quarantine methods and the challenges on this system for the detection of infectious agents. A molecular-based approach to quarantine using the Prevalent Rodent Infectious Agent (PRIA) PCR array is introduced along with recommendations for its implementation for a routine quarantine program.
