Photo Documentation of Hair Loss Pattern in the SHO® Mouse
April 4, 2011 - In 2007, Charles River’s Research Model group intercrossed the Crl: HA-Prkdcscid and the Crl: SKH1-Hrhr stocks to create a hairless and immunodeficient strain called the SCID Hairless Outbred (SHO®) mouse*. In 2010, we launched a study designed to provide photographic documentation of the hair loss pattern observed in these mice.
In this 28-day observational study, two litters of SHO® pups were observed from birth. Litter A contained 13 newborn pups and Litter B contained 9. Pups were randomly selected from Litter A and B and photographs were taken of each pup on day 1 (birth) and finished on day 24. Along with photographic documentation, all pups were screened for health and physical abnormalities.
