Charles River has developed intratibial models simulating the disease process to address the challenge of modeling bone lysis and infrequent spontaneous bone metastases. Various cell lines and positive controls as well as combination therapies have been validated in our hands. This model allows for the evaluation of a novel compound's effect on bone lysis or blastic activity.
The study design can incorporate client-driven service additions, including:
- Treatment efficiency
- Histopathology
- Histomorphometry
- Immunohistochemistry

Distant Metastases Quantified by Histopathology
The Charles River model provides for:
- Intratibial injection of tumor cells to induce bone resorption
- Radiographic quantification of test agents' effects
