We have tested and identified more microorganisms than any other company, allowing us to develop, update and maintain dynamic, validated, proprietary microbial databases and methods of interpretation unrivaled in the industry.

Accugenix® Microbial Identification Services

For over two decades, Accugenix has been recognized as the industry leader in the identification and strain typing of environmental isolates commonly found during sterile and nonsterile manufacturing in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, nutraceuticals, cosmetics and personal care industries. Our proprietary solutions have a 98% accurate identification rate with a 99% on-time delivery that can reduce production recovery times from investigations and minimize the impact to supply chain cycles.

Our Proprietary Libraries — The Accugenix® Difference

Any identification system is only as good as its reference library. The Accugenix® validated libraries are renowned for being the most extensive in the industry for environmental microbial contaminants, enabling the highest accuracy rate for species identification.

To ensure we continue to achieve the highest percentage of species-level identifications for bacterial and fungal samples, we routinely evaluate our sample identification rate and continually update our libraries. A large part of this process is comparing sample sequence data that did not result in a species-level match against a variety of publicly available sequence databases. If a newly described organism is a good match for those sample sequences and is validly named and published, the sequence proceeds to our validated library entry process. Prior to being added to our libraries, each entry goes through an extensive testing, review and approval process.

To see why our library is the best in the industry, please view our Library Comparison report, which compares our library to six commercially available identification systems, detailing entries in our library that are not present in other libraries and highlighting the key Accugenix advantages.

AccuGENX-ID® - Maximum accuracy. Minimum hassle. Optimum methods.
Rapid and reproducible results…in as little as 6 hours.

Our AccuGENX-ID genotypic identification methods are widely accepted as the industry’s “gold standard” for the identification of microorganisms. The sequencing technique is independent of the health or growth conditions of the isolate; samples can be viable or nonviable cultures or simply genomic DNA from your microbe. For each sample submitted for identification, the resulting DNA sequence is compared to the validated Accugenix libraries—the industry’s most comprehensive and up-to-date databases for environmental isolates. With an accuracy rate of 98% and a 0.2% error rate (the lowest in the industry), this is the ideal solution for all critical samples and investigations.

AccuPRO-ID® - The ideal high value/low cost solution for routine identifications with a guaranteed 98% reportable rate.

AccuPRO-ID is a proteotypic method based on MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry technology providing bacterial identification to the species level with greater accuracy than antiquated biochemical methods. Our AccuPRO-ID service is supported by our proprietary MALDI-TOF library and backed up with our AccuGENX-ID method at no additional cost. Low cost and high accuracy make this service an attractive alternative to the genotypic service and biochemical identification systems.

AccuBLAST® - Let us help you make sense of all the As, Ts, Cs and Gs.

Our AccuBLAST service is designed exclusively for customers who have purchased the MicroSEQ® identification system and are not confident in the identifications made by the automated system. The AccuBLAST service is based on two of our strengths- our sequence libraries and our expert data analysis, allowing us to deliver IDs more quickly and accurately.

Strain Typing - We can help you track and trend your microbial environment with expertise in Sequence Typing and Microbial Characterization.

Strain typing is a powerful tool and essential when more information is required to differentiate microorganisms in the production environment below the species level. Strain typing can assist in answering the questions: What is the source of contamination? Is this the correct production strain? Have I observed this contaminant in the past? Strain typing is the ideal application for performing investigations and root cause analyses and during sterility failures.

AccuGENX-ST

As a complement to our sequence-based microbial identification services, Accugenix offers strain typing by single- or multi-locus sequence typing (SLST or MLST) – highly accurate sequence-based strain typing methods. With AccuGENX-ST, we perform custom DNA sequencing of targets outside of the standard regions sequenced for microbial identification (16S or ITS2) to provide you with data to resolve differences and/or similarities at the strain level.

RiboPrinter®

We also offer automated RiboTyping utilizing the DuPont Qualicon RiboPrinter® for strain-level characterization of bacterial isolates. Automated ribotyping is useful for the comparison of restriction fragment patterns within the same species.
