The Atlantic horseshoe crab, Limulus polyphemus, is an ancient mariner with a lineage that goes back 440 million years. It is an important species both for its pivotal place in the ecosystem and for its valuable use in bio-
medical applications. Much of the continued survival of the horseshoe crab can be attributed to its own inherent adaptability as well as modern-day government protection. At Charles River, we are committed to helping ensure the protection and continued population growth of this extraordinary species that contributes to the betterment of all our lives.
