Having confidence in the person managing your genetically engineered rodent colonies is an important aspect of the outsourcing decision. At Charles River, we employ a team of project managers who have undergone extensive training in genetically engineered colony management and can provide you with valuable advice throughout the life of your project. When you choose to outsource to Charles River, you are assigned a dedicated project manager regardless of the size, scope or complexity of your needs. Your project manager is your direct link to your colonies housed at Charles River and is available to discuss your unique needs at any time. All aspects of colony management, from importing animals to start a project and carrying out project instructions (breeding, weaning, genotyping, shipping, etc.) to developing short- and long-term strategies to develop your colony, are directed through this one individual. This helps to ensure that each colony is directed in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible.
Our project management team has access to board-certified veterinarians, highly skilled geneticists, and PhD-level scientists to help resolve the many obstacles and challenges that can present themselves during the course of breeding and maintaining genetically engineered rodents. Combined, they form an invaluable resource for our clients, ensuring the highest quality levels are achieved.
Each project manager is also responsible for reporting back to you all updates and changes that occur during the life of the project. We have a standard report format that is sent out to our clients for each project on a regular basis. However, customized reports, forms and databases can be provided on request. In most cases, we can adapt to fit the same format our clients use in-house, simplifying the transition process. All colony reports are available 24 hours a day from our online client access portal. This portal can be accessed from any computer worldwide, ensuring constant access to your colony records, even if you’re not in the office.
Charles River’s project management staff is composed of a committed group of long-service employees, ready to adapt and meet your varying needs. It is our intention for them to become an integral part of your study team, an extension of your internal efforts, and a valuable partner in your research.
