December 18, 2007 New Issue of the Endosafe Times Newsletter Now Available Our technical newsletter, Endosafe Times, presents a wide range of timely and informative topics on the field of endotoxin testing. In this latest issue, Dr. James Cooper contributes the "Perspective" section and introduces readers to the newsletter. The feature article consists of the second part of Marlys Weary's two-part historical series, "A Short History of the Limulus Amebocyte Lysate (LAL) Test". In this piece, Marlys, a consultant with MERIT Consulting Services, presents a compelling retrospective of the regulatory process the LAL test has endured to become so widely accepted today. The "Laboratory Notebook" section includes the first of a two-part series on the importance of the proper selection of accessories for endotoxin testing. The selection of non-interfering accessories for endotoxin testing is an essential regulatory requirement. In the "LAL Pointers" section, the myth of plastic adsorption of endotoxin is addressed. Finally, the newsletter includes a summary of Charles River's Biopharmaceutical Services (BPS) division, which provides biosafety and characterization services. To view this issue, please click here.
