July 12, 2007 Introducing the Endosafe®-MCS™ for High Throughput Endotoxin Testing Charles River Laboratories introduces the Endosafe®-MCS™, a revolutionary endotoxin detection system that utilizes FDA-licensed LAL test cartridges and a multi-cartridge spectrophotometer to provide endotoxin test results for up to 5 samples in 15 minutes. The system is currently being evaluated in the United States and Europe by customers in high volume laboratories testing pharmaceutical and medical device products. When used in conjunction with the successful Endosafe®-PTS™, the MCS™ is a highly efficient tool enabling real-time endotoxin testing consistent with the FDA’s Process Analytical Technology (PAT) initiative. The system has many advantages over current LAL methods. The disposable cartridges contain all of the components needed to run an assay. The MCS™ reader permits fast, quantitative analysis of multiple samples simultaneously. Several MCS™ and portable PTS™ units can be connected to a single PC for high throughput and real-time results. Test results are captured via EndoScan-V™, Charles River Laboratories' 21 CFR compliant endotoxin detection software which provides detailed reports. The system can also be linked to Endosafe® Microtrend for data trending and analysis. “The first MCS™ units are now in customers’ hands and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
