Charles River continually performs research studies on many aspects of laboratory animal science. One such study has led to the conclusion that Pneumocystis carinii (Pc) is the causative agent for interstitial pneumonia in laboratory rats, previously known by the working name "rat respiratory virus" or "RRV". This work is being submitted for publication and will be presented at the 61st AALAS National Meeting.

Charles River will be hosting the 6th European Short Course on Laboratory Animals in Brussels on February 8-10, 2012. The Short Course is designed to educate and update the biomedical research community on current trends and technological advances in the field of laboratory animal science. Some of the topics to be covered during the 2012 European Short Course are the 3Rs and regulatory changes.
This position is responsible for leading sales program in assigned territory; assisting Account Management with presenting global capabilities, qualifying leads, demonstrating added value and closing new business opportunities by providing scientific support during sponsor teleconference calls, field visits and at scientific trade shows; providing technical leadership and direction to support customers and the Account Management and Global Accounts team; and working with Account Management and Global Account team to generate major account-specific sales strategies to close opportunities.
