Charles River Enhances Laboratory Science Capabilities
October 4, 2010 - We are pleased to announce the expansion and further harmonization of our laboratory science capabilities in the U.S., providing clients with more flexibility, more space and more options when placing their important studies with us.
At our Pennsylvania facility, which specializes in developmental and reproductive toxicology, as well as phototoxicology and neurotoxicology, we have increased the capacity for laboratory support by securing a dedicated 12,000-square-foot building for formulation and analytical chemistry. This space will allow us to offer formulation development services, which are a key part of the drug development process as they optimize formulation-related aspects such as adsorption, solubility and compatibility.
We will be adding even more analytical capabilities, including gas chromatography, at our Pennsylvania facility by the end of 2010. As a result, Charles River offers a full battery of laboratory support, including formulation services from pH solubility and partitioning profiling to bioavailability enhancement and pharmacy services.
At our Ohio facility, Charles River has recentralized, moving the laboratory science operations closer to our in vivo toxicology groups and upgrading instrumentation. Both of these changes will increase the efficiency of the facility as they support toxicology work. We will also be increasing our instrumentation resources in Ohio in 2011.
In addition, both the Ohio and Pennsylvania locations have harmonized their processes and platforms, offering clients even more flexibility in their research programs.
