New Cryopreservation and In Vitro Fertilization Resources on The SourceSM
January 4, 2012 - Charles River is committed to providing scientific resources to refine and enhance your laboratory procedures. Cryopreservation and in vitro fertilization techniques help safeguard your valuable research models. The scientific resources below are now available for viewing on The SourceSM.
Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE) Video: Mouse Sperm Cryopreservation and Recovery Using the I•CRYO™ Kit
Watch this instructional JoVE video and learn how to cryopreserve and recover sperm using the I•CRYO™ kit, which allows you to cryopreserve mouse strains at your own facility without shipping animals to an embryology laboratory.
In this newly released JoVE video, Charles River staff members discuss the mouse sperm cryopreservation process and guide you through the steps necessary to cryopreserve your own lines using Charles River’s I•CRYO™ kit.
In this I•CRYO JoVE video tutorial you will learn:
-
The entire sperm cryopreservation process
-
The preparation of straws and materials
-
Recovery via in vitro fertilization
Scientific Poster: Optimized Sperm Cryopreservation Medium for Mice
Charles River scientists recently conducted a study of methods to improve cryopreserved mouse sperm motility. They found that supplementing standard cryopreservation agent (CPA) with antioxidant supplement (AOS) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) substantially increased in vitro fertilization rates.
For a detailed description of the findings, view our scientific poster here, first presented at the 2011 International Society for Transgenic Technologies (ISTT) meeting.
Scientific Poster: Cryopreservation and In Vitro Fertilization of Lasered Oocytes with Low Viability Frozen-Thawed Sperm in Mice
Cryopreserved mouse sperm with low post-thaw motility presents challenges to live animal recovery. In a recent study, Charles River scientists determined that laser-treated oocytes can be cryopreserved and subsequently used for in vitro fertilization to recover mouse lines.
For specific study details, view our scientific poster here, first presented at the 2011 International Society for Transgenic Technologies (ISTT) meeting.
