Humane Care & Use Awards
Anyone may be nominated for this award, and the number of awards given is not limited. Winning nominees have demonstrated exemplary care of animals by going above and beyond in the areas of:
- Food and environment (i.e., temperature control, cleanliness, record keeping)
- Trouble and accident prevention
- Contamination precautions
- Containments (animal housing)
- Extraordinary attentiveness to maintaining the health and quality of animal life
- Sensitivity to the timely observation and reporting of animal health concerns
- Contributions to the refinement and enhancement of SOPs, practices, and techniques that improve animal welfare
President’s Award for Humane Care & Use
This award is presented to the one individual among all participating sites who best exemplifies the commitment of Charles River to animal care and welfare. The recipient of this award will be chosen from among those nominated for the Humane Care and Use Award and will represent the best of the best in this award category.
