New ES Cell Injection Packages for Knock-Out Mouse Models
July 3, 2009 – At Charles River, we know that making a knock-out mouse model from targeted embryonic stem (ES) cells can be a time-consuming and sometimes frustrating process. To assist you with this challenge, we are now offering two all-inclusive packages to deliver live animals for your research.
ES Cell Injection Package
For this service we take your targeted ES cells, expand and grow them on mouse embryo fibroblasts, inject them into 80-100 eight-cell embryos and transfer the injected embryos into pseudopregnant CD-1™ recipient female mice. When pups are born, we perform a complete health assessment of the colony and ship the chimeric offspring to you.
Germline Transmission Package
For this service we perform the ES cell injection as described above, but then continue the process to assess germline transmission. We breed your chimeric offspring to generate F1 animals and screen for the presence of your gene of interest. We then send a small colony of gene line carriers to you.
These newly created service packages are backed by our highly trained and skilled staff. Our three injection specialists each have at least 20 years of experience performing ES cell injections and our staff of project managers is available to answer questions, provide advice and help you meet your project goals.
