Inflammation Models | Charles River Discovery Research Services

Bleomycin-Induced Pulmonary Fibrosis Model

Charles River offers models of acute inflammatory lung disease. Instillation of bleomycin into the lungs results in acute inflammation followed by a more chronic fibrotic response. Treatment can be initiated at earlier or later time points to assess the effects of candidate agents on either aspect of this model. LPS instillation (model currently under development) can be used as a model of the inflammatory response to infectious agents. Histologic, biochemical and cellular end points are used to monitor efficacy. Additionally, the use of activatable fluorescence probes permits the in vivo assessment of the activity of relevant proteases, such as cathepsins, elastase and MMPs.
