Modules offered by Charles River are autonomous and ready-to-use units. The concept relies on prefabricated structures initially developed by Charles River for the housing of laboratory animals.
This concept allows for the rapid construction of a working space that is able to meet and uphold stringent biocontainment and biosecurity requirements. Modules can be used as single structures or combined to add space, temporarily or permanently, to a facility for a limited investment. The modules are available for purchase or as a rental (from 6 months to 3 years).
The biosecurity level is maintained by the barriers and the air conditioning system, which can provide negative or positive pressure. Fields of application include:
-
Negative pressure: research in virology, breeding of transgenic models, vaccine production, cell culture, housing of animals with uncertain health status
-
Positive pressure: housing of models with conventional SPF or SOPF health status, barrier units, clean areas, lab space
Our animal facility consulting and engineering team can help to provide fully customized projects, taking into account the type of use and space available at your facility to set up the modules.
