Charles River has been performing developmental and reproductive toxicity studies for pharmaceutical and biotechnology products for over 30 years. Using internationally recognized guidelines, including International Conference of Harmonization (ICH), we offer overall developmental and reproductive toxicology program planning and individual study design to conduct safety assessments for your products.

Since the emergence of the biotechnology industry in the mid-1980s, Charles River has tested a broad range of biologics and can customize protocols to meet your individual requirements. We also offer a complete range of juvenile toxicity testing.

Developmental & Reproductive Toxicology Services

  • Specialized neurobehavioral testing
  • Functional assessments including growth (and the skeleton), pulmonary, neurobehavioral, reproductive, and immunological development
  • Toxicokinetic evaluations, including induction studies
  • Juvenile toxicity testing in rodent and non-rodent species

 
Specialized Evaluation Techniques

  • Hormone assays
  • Male reproductive assessments (rodent and non-rodent)
  • Variety of behavioral tests, including activity, learning, and memory, for prenatal and postnatal studies
  • Range of developmental immunology tests that can be added to prenatal and postnatal studies
  • Endocrine disrupter assessments (uterotrophic assay and Hershberger assay)
  • Skeletal measurements for neonatal and juvenile studies (bone size, geometry, and density)
