JAX® Mice Strain: C57BL/6J

ORIGIN
The C57BL/6 mouse was developed by C.C. Little in 1921, after crossing the female N.57 with the male N.52 from a commercial breeding centre in the United States (Miss Abby Lathrop). It was introduced into The Jackson Laboratory in 1948, at F22, then to Charles River Laboratories France in 1981 and UK in 2004. Breeding is in accordance with The Jackson Laboratory genetic management system.
