OPRL1 RatWI(Han).BN-OPRL11Hubr/Crl
ORIGIN This strain was created in the laboratory of Dr. Edwin Cuppen at the Hubrecht Institute in the Netherlands. Biochemical characterization revealed that the OPRL1 functional protein (Nociceptin Receptor) is completely absent in homozygous knock-out rats and that there is a gene dose-dependent reduction in the expression and function of the Nociceptin Receptor in heterozygous knock-out rats. No adaptative change in other opioid receptor levels (kappa, delta, mu) could be demonstrated.
RESEARCH APPLICATION Neurobiology, Sensorineural (pain), Behavioral and learning defects, Toxicology (drug/compound testing), Addiction
BREEDING LOCATION France
