Copy Number Determination

Transgenes typically insert randomly in the genome in multiple tandem copies at a single site, but the site of insertion and number of copies varies in each founder line.

  • qPCR can determine relative copy numbers from each founder line.
  • Finely mapped microsatellites can determine insertion sites for each founder line.

By combining these two screens, valuable, predictive information can be learned about expression levels and efficacy prior to running costly studies.
