ALZET® Pumps

ALZET® osmotic pumps are miniature infusion systems that deliver test agents at controlled rates into mice, rats and other laboratory animals. They offer specific advantages over repeated animal dosing by injection or oral gavage, such as:

  • continuous delivery, eliminating peak and trough fluctuations
  • test agent effects develop fully and are easily reproduced, which is particularly advantageous for agents with short half-lives
  • reduction in animal stress that can develop from frequent handling

Charles River is the exclusive distributor of ALZET® osmotic pumps for France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Hungary, Czech Republic, UK and Ireland.

There are 12 ALZET® osmotic pump models available that differ in volume, duration and delivery rate. Dosage variability can be achieved by modifying agent concentration; duration can be extended by serial implantation of the pumps.
