Rederivation Services

Our rederivation services remove adventitious organisms such as viruses, bacteria and parasites from your mice and rats. All rederived animals from Charles River meet our VAF/Elite® health status and are maintained in the biosecurity of an isolator environment to protect the health of the colony. To date, we have rederived nearly 10,000 unique strains of mice and rats with 100% success in removing the unwanted organism(s). We process between 40 and 60 projects per week, working with tens of thousands of embryos annually.

Best used for homozygous lines, lines with multiple genetic mutations, or rat rederivation. Non-rederived live colony is maintained until the deliverables are met.

Mouse Rederivation III At least 10 rederived animals with a complete health report. Expansion of a homozygous colony prior to rederivation.
Rat Rederivation I At least 10 rederived animals with a complete health report
Rat Rederivation II At least 10 rederived animals with a complete health report. Expansion of a homozygous colony prior to rederivation.

Best used for nonhomozygous, single mutation mouse lines.
