In Vitro Cytotoxicity

Primary cultures offer fast access to study molecules of interest directly in relevant cell types. Primary cultures are real cells present in tissue instead of immortalized cell lines and are good tools for lead molecule identification (efficacy and toxicity screening).

Charles River conducts in vitro cytotoxicity studies in glial cultures or mixed cultures comprised of both neuronal and glial cells. Validated endpoints make possible both cell death and cell viability assays and further analysis of cells by immunocytochemistry or ELISA. Data is available within few weeks from study initiation.
