Powerful tools for quick, accurate, interpretative analysis
Any identification system is only as good as the library of information used as the reference. Our validated libraries are renowned for being the most extensive in the industry for environmental microbial contaminants, allowing you to achieve the highest accuracy rate for species identification.
Because we are the industry leader in microbial identification, our scientists have built robust, validated databases that contain the most comprehensive bacterial and fungal entries found in today’s industrial production and research environments, assuring an accurate answer for virtually every sample we sequence.
Leading Technologies
Comparative DNA sequencing of the 16S rDNA gene in bacteria and the ITS2 rDNA region in fungi has been proven to be the most accurate and reproducible method for identifying unknown organisms. The technology is inherently stable, which allows the data to be reproducible. Although the science behind the technology is widely accepted, there are still a number of variables which may impact the implementation and use of this technology to achieve an accurate identification.
Control the Variables
Our scientists have identified areas of variability and concentrated on developing a process which significantly reduces this variability, resulting in more accurate and reproducible answers. A main source of variability which could affect the identification result is the library of known microbial 16S and ITS2 sequences. In order to correctly identify a large percentage of the unknown isolates in Environmental Monitoring programs, the library must contain DNA sequences for the organisms likely to be encountered. We have over a decade of experience documenting the organisms found in Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, Personal Care and Cosmetics, Nutraceuticals and Biotechnology manufacturing facilities around the world. We understand that each day new organisms are discovered and named or are being re-classified and re-named. Many of these new organisms may be present in manufacturing facilities and could pose a risk to your product.
Our validated, cGMP-compliant libraries contain more species relevant to the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, Personal Care and Cosmetics, Nutraceuticals and Biotechnology industries than any other commercially available library in the world.
Identify with the Leader
Charles River is committed to updating our Accugenix® libraries in a continuous manner to reflect the most current taxonomy and to incorporate new library entries. Even in those rare cases where a species level ID cannot be provided, you still have a unique identifier of the organism — its DNA sequence, a powerful tool to aid in typing for trending and tracking.
