For 60 years, we have been the global leader in providing research models to the biomedical community. A significant part of our ongoing commitment is maintaining rigorous standards for biosecurity. This commitment provides safeguards to our customers on the health and genetic quality of our models and allows us to deliver that standard worldwide.
Our ability to produce a uniform research model worldwide that consistently meets the highest quality standards is based on a set of core values and practices.
- Our International Genetic Standard (IGS) program is a breeding standard for inbred and outbred models that is the foundation for genetic integrity worldwide. These production practices are in place throughout all of our breeding facilities.
- Entrenched in all of our practices is our commitment to humane care. Our Humane Care Initiative provides leadership both within Charles River and the industry regarding the importance of humane care and its impact on research.
- To ensure the quality and care of our research models from our production facility to the hands of our customers, we provide truck delivery for essentially all of the animals we ship in North America.
