Matt Flegal is currently the Senior Manager of the In Vivo Sciences department at our Shrewsbury, MA site, managing a team of over 70 technicians, trainers, data reviewers, team leaders, and supervisors. Matt started in the research field as a laboratory animal technician at TSI/Mason before eventually moving on to work at Primedica, Pfizer, Genzyme/Sanofi-Aventis, and Biogen. He has experience performing a variety of surgical procedures in animals, including device implantation, organ transplants, cardiac procedures, and brain and spinal procedures.
Matt received a degree in animal science and lab animal science from the University of New Hampshire. He is the current President for the New England branch of AALAS and an adjunct professor teaching Laboratory Animal Surgery at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Matt previously served on the board of directors for the Academy of Surgical Research, holds patents for novel surgical devices and implants, and has 20 years’ experience training medical professionals in surgical techniques and procedures.
