The human P2RX7 gene encodes P2X7, an ionotropic ATP receptor that functions as an ATP-activated cation channel expressed in lymphocytes and microglia. P2X7 receptors are therapeutic targets in treatment of osteoporosis, neuropathic and inflammatory pain, and immune diseases.
