TMEM16A abc (transmembrane protein 16A, abc splice variant) is a voltage-dependent and calcium-activated chloride-selective ion channel. TMEM16A is localized in the epithelial lining and smooth muscles of lung, gut, pancreas, and mammary and salivary glands, where it may represent a therapeutic target for disorders of fluid and mucus secretion, hypertension and cancer.
