TRPA1 (transient receptor potential channel, subtype A1) is a non-selective, calcium-permeable cation channel, expressed in sensory neurons of the trigeminal and dorsal root ganglia and the ear. The channels are sensitive to cold temperatures and certain plant-derived compounds, such as mustard oil. TRPA1 channels are therapeutic targets in treatment of pain.
