Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Updates

In response to the current outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) that was first reported from Wuhan, China, on December 31, 2019, Charles River has assembled a global team of internal experts who are closely monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak and its impact on employee safety and our business operations. To keep clients informed, we will post updates to this web page.

Charles River corporate headquarters

March 23, 2020 – In response to the global COVID-19 outbreak, Charles River Laboratories has enacted measures to help ensure the health and safety of our employees, customers, suppliers, and visitors, as well as their families.

Many city, state, and federal governments are implementing “Stay At Home” orders, or something similarly termed, that are intended to help minimize the spread of the disease through people moving about socially or for work. We are working closely with the applicable authorities to ensure that any of our sites that are in a restricted area are recognized as essential businesses. All of the orders we have seen thus far allow such exemptions and we have been providing our staff with the appropriate documentation needed to ensure that those who must be on site for critical in-life work and studies can do so. This is true for all existing geographies with those orders in place, and we are taking proactive measures for geographies not yet restricted.

We will continue to take all necessary precautions and remain on high alert as developments are constantly changing. Anyone who can work from home is doing so, and we are following strict visitor and travel policies across the company.

If you have any questions or concerns about this information or our response to the COVID-19 outbreak, please reach out to your regular point of contact at Charles River.
