CDC Recommends Vaccinated People Mask Up Indoors
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated their mask guidance for people who have been vaccinated against COVID-19, urging them to wear masks indoors if they live in areas with high levels of COVID-19 transmission.
The Delta variant of the virus, which is now the dominant strain in the US and many other countries, seems to have high viral levels even in vaccinated people when they are infected. Even if vaccinated people do not get seriously ill from the virus, the high levels make them a danger to anyone who has not been vaccinated, prolonging the epidemic.
In many counties, vaccination rates are below 40%, making them especially susceptible to the Delta strain. For more, head over to CNN.
