Does Old Age Have to Feel So Old? (Video)

How should we deal with the number one risk factor for many diseases? Three scientists discuss the concept of treating aging.

We often hear the phrase let nature takes its course? But who among us would not like to turn the clock back, or at least slow it down, by treating old age? With age the major risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, diabetes, cancer and many other chronic conditions, scientists are looking more closely at whether it’s possible to develop therapeutics that can upend some of the drivers that cause our bodies to begin to break down.

Scientists Patrick Sweeney of Charles River Laboratories, Mikko Hiltunen of East Finland University and Brian Kennedy of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging discuss this topic during a Eureka round table at the Society for Neuroscience meeting this week in San Diego. If you would like to read more on this topic, check out our blog earlier this week that included Kennedy and five other scientists from the commercial and government research sectors.
