Blue Light Exposure Model of Retinal Photoreceptor Degeneration in Mice
Light exposure is a common method of modeling the photoreceptor degeneration seen in human diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration.
Charles River offers a blue light exposure model that induces retinal damage and cell death to be used as a screen for investigating potential neuroprotective properties of new chemical or biological entities (NCEs/NBEs) prior to subsequent nonclinical testing. With shorter study durations and the ability to ensure relatively uniform exposure and model optimization, this model is a favorable alternative to a genetically engineered model.
