Standard laboratory e-fate studies are required for agrochemical and chemical registrations; however, the degradation rate is often longer than might be the case given a more realistic scenario. Higher tier outdoor studies can take a long time to establish and run. Making minor, relatively inexpensive modifications to standard e-fate study designs provides an effective testing strategy for the study of persistence.
