Webinar Series: Nervous System Pain - From DRGs to In Vivo Pharmacology Studies

Neuropathic pain is a chronic pain state with many causes ranging from infections to addictions to chemotherapy, diabetes, joint problems, or autoimmune disorders. Measured in terms of health care needs, lost wages, and impact on quality of life, it costs billions of dollars annually. Despite the prevalence, costs, and impact on life, it is extremely difficult to treat chronic pain, and the current treatments are either suboptimal or are liable to cause wide-spread abuse, especially when opioid drugs are used.

This webinar series first discusses in vivo models of mono- and polyneuropathic pain, including DRG-targeted test compound administration and imaging methods. Then is covers the mechanistic aspects of acute, inflammatory, and joint pain models that might help in the discovery of novel analgesics.
