Using High-Throughput Sequencing in Virus Detection

Recently published in mSphere, this article examines the benefits and a drawback of using high-throughput sequencing (HTS) to identify viruses in biologics. It presents a methodology which enables the specific identification of newly synthesized viral RNAs in infected cells, resulting in the ability to distinguish active infection by DNA or RNA viruses from inert nucleic acids.
