ApoE Knockout Mouse (JAX® Mice Strain) Details
Mice homozygous for the Apoetm1Unc knock-out mutation show a marked increase in total plasma cholesterol levels that are unaffected by age or sex. Fatty streaks in the proximal aorta are found at three months of age. The lesions increase with age and progress to lesions with less lipid but more elongated cells, typical of a more advanced stage of pre-atherosclerotic lesion. These ApoE KO mice are useful for studying cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis and fat metabolism, as well as the role of ApoE in Alzheimer's disease. Pedigree mice from The Jackson Laboratory were transferred to Charles River Laboratories UK in October 2004.

Growth chart data should be used as a guideline only.
The shaded areas on each chart are the mean weight plus or minus one standard deviation at a given age averaged across all production facilities. This represents approximately 67% of the population, with the remaining 33% falling outside of this weight range.
